Pre-Rolls on the Rise: A Five-Year Surge Changing the Game By Justice, Elevated Club NYC

If you’ve been paying attention to the shelves lately, you already know: pre-rolls aren’t just convenient — they’re dominating.

Over the last five years, pre-roll sales in the U.S. have exploded from under half a billion dollars in 2019 to more than $3 billion in 2024. That’s not a trend — that’s a shift in consumer behavior.

So what changed?

First: convenience. Today’s consumer wants quality without the ritual prep. No grinders. No rolling trays. No guesswork. Just a clean, well-packed, ready-to-go experience. Pre-rolls answer that instantly.

Second: consistency. Early pre-rolls had a reputation for being made from leftover trim. That’s not the market anymore. Modern premium brands are using whole flower, infused concentrates, glass tips, multi-pack options, and strain-specific craftsmanship. The category matured — and consumers responded.

Third: culture. Pre-rolls fit the moment. They’re social. They’re shareable. They’re perfect for nights out, rooftop sessions, concerts, or keeping things low-key at home. As legalization expanded across states, so did access — and the pre-roll became the easiest entry point for new consumers.

What we’re seeing now is specialization. Mini “dogwalkers,” 1.25g heavy hitters, infused diamonds, live resin joints, curated multi-packs. It’s not just about rolling paper anymore — it’s product design.

For brands like Elevated Club NYC, this growth confirms something we’ve always believed: simplicity sells when quality is right. Consumers want clean burns, smooth pulls, and flavor that hits exactly how it should.

Pre-rolls are no longer an add-on category. They’re a revenue engine.

And if the last five years tell us anything, it’s this — the future of cannabis isn’t slowing down. It’s already lit.

Main thing about pre rolls is trust. Even the commercial brands that are pre packaged have to be consistent with their product. At elevated all pre-rolls have been top shelf.
